UAV - Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
The UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) also known as a "drone", is used in research for agriculture, mineral exploration, industry, wildfire surveillance, wildlife surveys, powerline and pipeline surveys, payload transport, atmosphere surveillance and weather forecasting. The UAS industry is rapidly expanding and expected to be one of the largest growth industries within the next decade. Students will learn the basics to operate, test, calibrate and maintain small unmanned systems as well as collect and analyze imagery data taken from a variety of sensors and how to apply it to their research questions.
