Chopski Receives ISU Distinguished Alumni Honors

Dear Alumni and Friends,

I am delighted to reconnect with the L.S. Skaggs College of Pharmacy community. As many of you know, I began my career in higher education here serving as the Director of College Relations and Marketing from 2002 to 2011. It’s heartening to return and see so many familiar faces, including former students who are now thriving pharmacy professionals.

Since my return in July, we’ve had the honor of celebrating one of our esteemed graduates during the 2024 Homecoming festivities. Dr. Nicki Chopski, PharmD, a proud graduate of the Class of 1997, returned to share her insights and experiences with us at a special student luncheon. She emphasized the importance of student involvement in professional organizations, encouraging students to showcase their research and advocate for our profession. Understanding the financial constraints many students face, Dr. Chopski established the Chopski Pharmacy Innovation Travel Fund to support those who contribute to pharmacy advancement through presentations and conferences.

Dr. Chopski has had an illustrious career, serving on the Idaho Board of Pharmacy since 2007 and becoming its Executive Director in 2019 after 12 years as a hospital pharmacist. Currently, she holds the position of Bureau Chief of Health Professions for Idaho's Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses, overseeing the Boards of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Her national reputation within the pharmacy community, particularly with the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), underscores her commitment to regulatory progress.

Known for her integrity and in-depth understanding of healthcare issues, Dr. Chopski is dedicated to enhancing pharmacy standards and care models. Her leadership, marked by numerous affiliations and awards, highlights her commitment to the advancement of healthcare professionals and regulatory practices.

We are proud to recognize Dr. Chopski’s transformative impact on pharmacy practice and regulation.

I am also excited to invite you to our alumni reception at the ASHP Mid-Year Conference on December 8 at 6:30 p.m. Join us at Mulate’s Acadia Room, 201 Julia St., New Orleans. Please RSVP here and we look forward to reconnecting with all of you!

Go Bengals!
