3MT Competition: Bengals take honors in state research challenge

BOISE – It was a daunting task – condensing thousands of words and hundreds of hours of research into a three-minute presentation before a live audience.  But five Idaho State University graduate students rose to the challenge at the state’s first Three Minute Thesis/3 Minute Masters Competition Feb. 12 in Boise.

POCATELLO – To understand changes in the Snake River Plain’s climate and ecosystem over thousands of years, Idaho State University biological sciences doctoral student Amy Commendador has been analyzing the contents of owl pellets using a sophisticated instrument called an isotope ratio mass spectrometer.

POCATELLO –A team of Idaho State University researchers working at the Reynolds Creek Critical Zone Observatory in partnership with the USDA Agricultural Research Service has discovered a simple method for predicting the spatial distribution of soil thickness across a landscape.
