Free flu shots and basic physical exams offered at ISU/Ada County Health Screening Sept. 20

Free flu shots, basic physical and dental exams, and onsite testing for blood sugar levels and cholesterol are included in free services offered at a community health screening Thursday, Sept. 20, 4-7 p.m., at Whittier Elementary School, 301 N. 29th St., in Boise.

Adult pneumonia immunizations save lives

POCATELLO – According to national research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), less than 67 percent of adults age 65 or older received their pneumoniavaccination in 2016. In Southeast Idaho, 57 percent of Medicare beneficiaries have never received a pneumonia vaccination, putting them at risk for serious illness and hospitalization.

MERIDIAN—Idaho State University’s Institute of Rural Health has received a $450,000 grant from the federal Administration for Community Living to continue the development of a statewide action plan to address the needs of citizens living with a traumatic brain injury or TBI.

There the ADHA honored an ISU faculty member with a prestigious Presidential Citation Award, and installed a new slate of officers for the upcoming year, with an ISU alumna among them.
