ISU Department of Community and Public Health students partner with ISU Bengal Pharmacy for prescription drug take-back event on Dec. 5

November 30, 2018

POCATELLO – To help combat the growing prescription drug abuse problem in our community, Idaho State University Department of Community and Public Health students are hosting a Prescription Drug Take Back Event on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

The event will run from 2 to 4 p.m. at the ISU Bengal Pharmacy located at the ISU Student Health Center on the ISU campus, 990 S. Eighth Ave. in Pocatello.

The ISU Bengal Pharmacy will provide safe and appropriate disposal of expired/unwanted prescription drugs while ISU students provide education on substance abuse prevention. The students involved are currently enrolled in the ISU “Substance Abuse in Community and Public Health” class. This event is the culmination of their semester-long service learning project.

The purpose of this event is to provide a safe and convenient way for people to dispose of expired/unwanted prescription drugs with no questions asked, as well as to provide education and resources to the community regarding substance abuse prevention.

Participants who dispose of prescription drugs at the event will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses. Raffle tickets limited to one per household.

Free hot chocolate will be served.

For more information, contact the ISU Department of Community and Public Health at 208-282-2398.
