I Would Tickle a Fish to Heal Us

Hello there, I’m Yancey! I’m a first year University Honors Program mentor, and I’m pumped to start my mentoring journey. I proudly claim the mighty metropolis of Caldwell, Idaho as my hometown. In my free time, I enjoy watching sports of many forms, and I am a proud fan and co-owner of the Green Bay Packers. During the NFL season, I enjoy managing my fantasy football team, and I am coming off the worst season of my manager career. In high school, I fell in love with robotics, and now that passion has morphed into volunteering at VEX tournaments when I go back home to the Treasure Valley. Since I’ve been in college, I’ve come to love hanging out and adventuring with friends, so if you want any tips on spontaneous trips to Phoenix, I’m your guy! At the beginning of this school year, I had a lot of fun filming trickshots and Youtube shorts skits, but now me and the boys are into podcasting, which has been a fun endeavor so far.

Here at ISU, I’m in the second semester of my pursuit of a civil engineering degree. After classes, I enjoy getting involved in Chi Alpha Ministries here on campus, and I’ve enjoyed playing the cajon for Chi Alpha on Wednesday nights. Additionally, I have gotten involved in the business realm more than I expected to, and now I’m working on launching a business with my dad. The Small Business Development Center on the third floor of the business building has been an amazing resource for me, and I’ve just committed to a season with the TiE U Oregon chapter, which is a branch of a global business pitch competition. If you’re considering launching a small business, I’d be happy to point you to the resources I’ve found here at ISU. As far as jobs go, I’m currently a professional student, but I’m interviewing to be an assistant team advisor for the National Student Leadership Conference over the summer. Overall, I’m excited to meet the incoming honors class and see where this next year takes me!
