"Living For the Hope of It All" - Taylor Swift
Hi guys! I’m Hadley, a second year student here at ISU majoring in Communications in Multiplatform Journalism and minoring in Professional Writing. I’m so excited to be a mentor for the Honors Program this upcoming year! My time at ISU has been incredibly opportunistic and filled with joy, and I hope to bring enthusiasm, excitement, and encouragement to you all so you have just as amazing of a time at college. I work three campus jobs—I’m the Sports Editor for The Bengal Newspaper, a reporter for KISU-FM (the radio station on campus!), and I’m a tutor at the Writing Center. If you ever have an essay or writing assignment you’re struggling with, please come see me in the Writing Center, I’d be happy to help you! Following my graduation in 2026, I hope to become a broadcast journalist. Storytelling and news is my thing, and the goal is that you’ll see me field reporting on the news someday and be able to say, “Hey! I know her!”
In addition to my jobs, I stay busy playing both club and intramural volleyball. This sport was my first passion in life, and I’d be happy to connect anyone to the club scene in Pocatello and/or the intramural leagues at ISU! After being a student athlete my whole life, I’ve learned plenty of time management skills which are crucial to succeeding in college, so please reach out if you need some study tips to keep those grades up while leading a busy lifestyle! I also love spending time with friends, going back home on weekends to visit my family, attending all the fun campus events, lifting at the gym, running, and any other outdoor activities! My music taste is limited to my favorite artists including Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan, and Greta Van Fleet (anyone know these?). Whether you reach out to me as your mentor or friend every day, or never, I’m always here for you and willing to listen. My biggest piece of advice for any incoming students is simply to get involved: go to the events and sports games, find the clubs for the things you love like your sport, favorite game, or religious study groups, and try to meet new people in your classes. You’re bound to find ways to combine your passions and interests with either jobs or club groups at ISU. There is so much opportunity here, you just have to get out and seize it.
