Historical Garbagewoman
My name is Abigail Card, but you can call me Abby. I do not literally pick up garbage, but I am majoring in Anthropology so I can be an archeologist. I am also minoring in Art History as well as in GeoTechnology. Anthropology is all about people and learning why we do things the way we do. That includes trying to understand the cultures, religions, and ethnicities of the world, especially our own. With my studies, I want to show the world as a whole that we are not so different regardless of where we are from or what we look like. My hobbies tend to include a hodgepodge of various artistic endeavors. You name it and I have probably tried it, although not always successfully. I am also an avid baker. I spend a good chunk of my time experimenting, learning, and trying my hand at all sorts of new recipes. It is probably one of my favorite pastimes. From cupcakes and cheesecake to macarons and croissants, I love being able to make someone smile with the food I make.
I do a lot of different kinds of work all over campus. I am pretty involved with the University Honors Program, and I have assisted in various types of research at the Center for Archaeology, Materials and Applied Spectroscopy (CAMAS). I have also presented this research at a number of different conferences including ISU’s Undergraduate Research Symposium and the Idaho Conference on Undergraduate Research (ICUR). Right now, I am researching Mesoamerican burials in Belize as the topic of my honors thesis presentation.
