Executive in Residence

The Executive in Residence program at the College of Business invites successful alumni to visit campus for a number of days. Throughout their visit, executives will present to a variety of classes, meet one-on-one with students, participate in panels, network with students and faculty, as well as hold a college-wide presentation. The Executive in Residence event is an incredible opportunity for College of Business undergraduate and graduate students to gain valuable connections with high level leaders in a variety of business fields and learn about their rise to success. 

Sandee Gehrke, Senior Vice President and COO of St. Luke's Health System | October 8-10

Sandee has 20 years of healthcare executive experience and has served as the senior vice president and chief operating officer of St. Luke’s Health System since 2021. 

In her role as COO, Sandee serves as the chief executive officer of eight acute care facilities and 300+ ambulatory care sites, with clinical centers of excellence in oncology, orthopedics, children's, neuroscience and women's services, and provides strategic leadership for a network of 4,000+ providers. 

Within St. Luke’s, she has been responsible for strengthening the shared services core of the organization, leading teams across construction, patient access, facilities, laundry, environmental services, food and nutrition, security, continuous improvement, enterprise staffing, capital planning and pharmacy to standardize and optimize performance. Throughout her career, Sandee has built teams, mentored up-and-coming leaders in the healthcare space, and successfully executed plans and initiatives aligned with organizational strategy and goals.

Prior to joining St. Luke’s in 2014, Sandee held progressive leadership positions with HCA Healthcare and served as associate administrator at Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and as chief operating officer at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls

Born and raised in Caldwell, Idaho, Sandee received her bachelor’s degree from Idaho State University and master’s degree from the University of Colorado. She remains active in and committed to university functions and student success, serving on multiple boards and funding undergraduate and graduate scholarships for health sciences students. 

Board-certified in healthcare management, Sandee is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and served as regent for the state of Idaho from 2012 to 2015. She currently serves on the Idaho Hospital Association board of directors as the Secretary/Treasurer, and as a board of director for the Women’s and Children’s Alliance (WCA).

Sandee and her husband Josh love music, traveling, and spending time with their 7-year-old daughter, Caroline.
