3308-Digital Design

Students will use a variety of image making software and image capturing tools to make artworks.
-
Students will use the formal elements and principles of two-dimensional design including line, shape, implied volume, light and shade, texture and color to make art projects through digital means. Students will use terminology needed to discuss various types, techniques and concepts of digital art and put this vocabulary into a historical context.

Students will plan a path utilizing problem-solving steps, including stating initial intentions, defining and analyzing the problem and clarifying the main issues and evaluating the success of the work.
3310-Professional Practice and Display

Students will learn how to organize and install a group or solo exhibition of recent artwork.

Students will develop professional materials (including an artist’s statement, resume, professional images, press releases, grant applications, etc.)

Students will learn about the theoretical and practical aspects of succeeding as a practicing artist.
3320- Junior Review Process

Artwork is submitted for a portfolio review at midterm based on the content and principles learned in studio and foundation core classes.

Students will engage in installation art and non traditional art making practices.
4410-Integrated Media

Students will engage in installation art and non traditional art making practices. By definition, these approaches collapses media boundaries and discipline boundaries, as such, students will be encouraged and taught new ways of thinking about presentation and invention.

Students will design and fabricate “site-specific” artworks--artworks that respond to specific locations that may not be traditional venues for exhibiting artwork.

Students will consider an artwork’s relationship to its context and understand how context significantly affects the meaning of a piece.

Students will discuss the relevance of course readings on critical theory and lectures to the student’s own artistic concerns and trajectory.
4425-Contemporary Art
