The time has come to celebrate our exceptional graduating students with the prestigious Outstanding Student Achievement Awards – the highest honor bestowed upon graduating scholars at Idaho State University. This award recognizes their outstanding scholastic achievement and remarkable community service.

The formal awards celebration will take place at the ICCU Bengal Alumni Center on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Registrations are required by Jan. 29.

Jaden Klein ‘25

B.M. Piano 

Jaden Klein is a senior piano performance major at Idaho State University studying under Dr. Kori Bond. She has studied the piano for sixteen years. She has competed extensively throughout her high school and college years and has received numerous awards, most notably as the winner of the Idaho State Civic Symphony Concert Competition in 2022 and runner-up in the Idaho Falls Symphony Young Artist Competition in 2024. In addition to performing, she is heavily involved in the ISU music community, accompanying fellow music majors in their performances, participating in the ISU Concert Choir as a singer and pianist, as a teacher and office intern in the ISU Piano Preparatory Program, and co-director of the ISU Summer Institute for Piano and Strings Junior Piano Division. Outside of music, she enjoys reading novels, drawing, and crocheting. Jaden is the daughter of Mark and Camille Klein, who both hold music degrees from ISU. She is the fourth of eight children. Jaden grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and graduated from homeschool high school in 2021. After graduating from ISU in 2025, Jaden will continue her music education, advancing to graduate school in 2026 to pursue a Master of Music Performance in piano.

Abigail Card '25

Honors B.A. in Anthropology with a Minor in Art History and Geotechnology

Abigail Card, a senior at Idaho State University, is pursuing an honors degree in Anthropology with minors in Art History and GeoTechnology. Throughout her time at ISU, Abby has worked in numerous positions across campus, from her time as a research assistant at the Center for Archaeology, Materials and Applied Spectroscopy - CAMAS (CAMAS) to her work as an Anthropology content/writing center tutor at the University Tutoring Center. Her current research with the Belize ValleyArchaeologicalReconnaissanceProject (BVAR) looks into the significance and patterns found within occurrences of chultun burial sites throughout the country of Belize. Outside of her research, she also works as an honors peer mentor for the University Honors Program (UHP). In this role, she is a resource for new UHP students, whom they can rely upon to answer questions related to their education, the university, and personal matters. After her graduation in the spring, she plans on applying to a graduate program to pursue both a Master’s degree and a Doctorate. In her free time, Abby runs an at-home bakery business selling sweet treats to spread joy to others.

B.B.A. Finance and Marketing 

Jayce Packer is a first-generation college student pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance, maintaining a 3.96 GPA. Outside the classroom, he has completed multiple internships, including one with Idaho National Laboratory, where he earned the 2023 Intern Project of the Year award for his Fraud Risk Assessment. He continues to work at Idaho National Laboratory as a Planning and Financial Controls Analyst. Jayce is excited to further his education at Idaho State University in the MBA program with an emphasis on project management. In his spare time, he enjoys community engagement and exploring Idaho’s outdoor activities.

Callie Swallow '24

B.A. Blended Early Childhood Education 

Callie graduated this past December with a Bachelor of Arts in Blended Early Childhood Education. Her academic journey has been both rewarding and transformative, shaping her passion for supporting young children during their formative years of learning. Throughout her studies, she earned the distinction of being named to the Idaho State University Dean’s List, a recognition that highlights her dedication and hard work. Callie began her education at the Idaho State University College of Technology, where she was inspired by the extensive support and expertise of her instructors. This foundation carried over as she transitioned to the Idaho State University College of Education where she immersed herself in classroom experiences. Balancing a full course load each semester, she simultaneously worked with young children in various settings. These hands-on opportunities allowed her to apply her learning in real-time, enhancing her understanding of teaching methods, learning strategies, and best practices. Her student teaching experience was particularly impactful, building her confidence and helping her refine her teaching style while growing her skills. After graduation, Callie plans to pursue a unique role as a traveling homeschool teacher. She looks forward to combining her love for teaching with the opportunity to explore the country, creating enriching educational experiences tailored to the interests of her students. Callie believes deeply in the transformative power of education to inspire and shape lives. She is eager to bring her knowledge, skills, and passion to the field of early childhood education, fostering strong foundations for young learners while embracing the adventure of this unique teaching opportunity.

Corinne Deakin '25

B.S. Dental Hygiene 

Corinne is a dedicated dental hygiene student at Idaho State University, known for her academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to community service. Recognized on the College of Health Professions Dean’s List multiple times, she has received prestigious awards, including the Zonta Club of Pocatello Women in Leadership Scholarship and the IDHA Academic Scholarship. Corinne is an active student member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association, where she engages in professional development and contributes to advancing dental practices. She has presented at the Idaho Dental Hygienists’ Association Conference and conducted in-depth research on advanced periodontal instrumentation techniques. Her volunteerism at the Pocatello Free Clinic and leadership in the Bengal Smiles for Life program reflect her dedication to improving oral health in underserved communities. As President of the ISU Student American Dental Hygienists’ Association (SADHA), Corinne organizes service projects such as Give Kids a Smile, the Homeless Standdown, and Recovery Fest. Her leadership extends to her senior community project, “Teen Tooth Day,” aimed at promoting oral health and drug prevention among adolescents. Beyond dentistry, Corinne is deeply involved in community service. She volunteers with organizations like The Idaho Foodbank, Friends of Marshall Public Library, and the Pocatello Warming Shelter. She also advocates for global initiatives through the Hope for a Better World Foundation and supports the Idaho Period Project to address menstrual equity. Corinne’s passion for leadership, education, and service exemplifies her dedication to making a positive impact in her profession and community. Following graduation, she plans to continue her work in dental hygiene while fostering health equity and empowerment through service.

Sierra Condie '25

Doctor of Pharmacy

Sierra Condie is a 2025 Doctor of Pharmacy candidate, currently completing her clinical rotations in Reno, Nevada. An alumnus of ISU, Sierra graduated summa cum laude in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She was born and raised in Shelley, Idaho, where her interest in pharmacy grew from the age of seventeen. Throughout her time at ISU, Sierra has been highly involved in leadership, serving as President of the ISU College of Pharmacy Student Senate, Student Ambassador, Interprofessional Education Chair, First Professional Year Class Secretary, and Operation Heart Co-Chair. She also led the Future Healthcare Professionals of America Club as its president during her undergraduate education. Sierra's commitment to community health is evident through her participation in outreach events in Idaho and Nevada. She has provided immunizations, conducted screenings for underserved populations, and educated middle school students on the safe use of over-the-counter medications. With seven years of experience in the pharmacy department at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Sierra gained valuable insights into hospital pharmacy practice. There, she collaborated with PGY1 pharmacy residents on quality improvement projects, further solidifying her passion for the profession.

Honors B.S. Biology

Xavier is earning an Honors degree in Biology with a concentration in biomedical sciences, achieving a 4.0 GPA. He is deeply engaged in research, exploring respiratory-related neural circuitry and showcasing his findings through his Honors Senior Thesis. On campus, he serves a peer mentor for the University Honors Program and worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant, supporting academic success and student development. Beyond academics, he demonstrates his commitment to the community by volunteering as a medical assistant at the Pocatello Free Clinic, providing compassionate care to underserved populations. Xavier exemplifies academic excellence, a passion for healthcare, a dedication to research, and a strong commitment to service.

Jaden Palmer '25

Honors B.S. Nuclear & Mechanical Engineering

Jaden Palmer is dual majoring in Nuclear and Mechanical Engineering. Motivated by living in multiple rural areas, Jaden is committed to making clean energy accessible to all. Jaden is a reactor twin analytics intern at Idaho National Laboratory, where he assists in developing advanced nuclear proliferation detection methods by using reactor physics and machine learning simulations. Additionally, he holds two research positions at Idaho State University, one directed at utilizing augmented reality for prosthesis rehabilitation and the other aimed at creating a novel radiation detection method. During the summer of 2024, Jaden participated in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Summer Research Program, where he contributed to a virtual reality scene to dynamically display Earth Observation data. These experiences culminate in Jaden’s ultimate goal of tackling issues in climate change, nuclear safety, and energy accessibility.

Kyle Ruud '25

A.A.S. Computerized Machining 

Born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho, Kyle Ruud is the oldest of three brothers in a close-knit family. Inspired by hardworking parents—his father, a ranch hand turned electrical engineer, and his mother, a college graduate who balanced parenting and studies—Kyle developed a strong work ethic early on. After graduating from Pocatello High School, Kyle enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2011, serving five years with distinction. He trained as an infantryman, rose to the rank of Corporal, and was selected for the elite Marine Corps Presidential Detail, where he earned advanced certifications in combat marksmanship and martial arts instruction. Following his service, Kyle worked in security at the FBI and pursued hobbies like welding, carpentry, and machining. Now a full-time student in ISU’s Computerized Machining Technology program, Kyle juggles work, school, and “side-quest” projects with precision and passion. He aims to apply his skills to advanced manufacturing at the Idaho National Laboratory while embracing his next challenge: becoming a father. Kyle credits his success to the mentors, family, and experiences that have shaped his grit and drive. Semper Fi.

Norra Cardillo '25

M.A. History

Norra Cardillo is a graduate history student. Her undergraduate education is in Visual Communication from the Savannah College of Art & Design. Cardillo’s specialties include public and women’s history. She has received the Graduate Teaching Assistantship and Graduate Research Assistantship scholarships. Norra is also a Phi Alpha Theta History Club and Honor Society member at Idaho State University. She hopes to combine her historical and artistic training to bring history to life in a modern and creative way. She is currently working on research and development to identify female influence in early North America.

Virginia Holmgren '25

Doctorate in Nursing Practice 

Virginia is receiving her Doctor of Nursing Practice Psychiatric Mental Health this May. She is a dedicated educator and lifelong learner with extensive experience as a Registered Nurse in critical care, substance abuse, and mental health settings. Virginia is also a Registered Respiratory Therapist with expertise in military transport and critical care. Virginia is receiving her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Psychiatric Mental Health this May. She is a dedicated educator and lifelong learner with extensive experience as a Registered Nurse in critical care, substance abuse, and mental health settings. Virginia is also a Registered Respiratory Therapist with expertise in military transport and critical care. As a Chief Master Sergeant in the Idaho Air National Guard, Virginia has completed two combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Currently, it leads the 124th Medical Group at Gowen Air Force Base. She is committed to advancing mental health care for the veteran population and will graduate from the DNP Psych Mental Health program in May. Virginia is supported by a loving family, including her husband, two sons, brother, niece, and a strong network of friends and extended family who have been integral to her journey.
