HIPAA

Idaho State University is designated as a Hybrid Entity. This means that some of our units as a whole, and select work conducted by some of our faculty, staff, and student are covered by HIPAA. This page is meant to serve as a resource guide for faculty, students, clients, patients, and other members of the ISU community who are interested to know more about how HIPAA applies at ISU.

Several of the University's clinics have been designated as health care components which means they must comply with HIPAA rules and regulations. Additional clinics may be designated if they begin performing HIPAA-covered transactions. The University is committed to protecting the confidentiality of protected health information and in complying with Federal and State regulations regarding the privacy and security of protected health information.
