What is TRIO McNair Scholars Program?
Idaho State University TRIO McNair Scholars Program is one of several TRIO programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education supporting the academic achievement of students from groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education. The TRIO McNair Scholars Program is designed to help undergraduate students at Idaho State University prepare for graduate research and enter competitive doctoral programs.

The Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program was established in 1986 by the U.S. Department of Education and named in honor of Challenger Space Shuttle astronaut Dr. Ronald E. McNair. The program, which has been at ISU since 2017, is funded by a five-year grant of $1,309,440 from the U.S. Department of Education.
