The Idaho State University Department of Theatre and Dance is thrilled to announce the upcoming High School One-Act Competition, scheduled for April 19-20.
The event provides a unique opportunity for the university and high schools to come together to participate and celebrate the arts.
The festival, which has been running for close to 20 years now, is set to welcome approximately 15 high school drama departments from across Idaho and Utah. Registration for participating schools is currently open and accessible via the event's website.
This two day event includes interactive workshops, Tech Olympics, and a showcase of the best high school theatre across the region. Drama departments attending the festival will each bring a one-act play to perform and receive constructive feedback.
The One-Acts festival serves not only as a platform for teens to showcase their skills but also as a valuable opportunity for them to hear from professionals in the field. This years’ visiting judges are Stephen Cramer from Western Wyoming Community College and Francesca Mintowt-Czyz from Weber State University. Idaho State Theatre faculty member Jef Petersen will also be judging the competition. Other ISU faculty members will lead workshops, while current ISU students will teach workshops and assist in the event's management.
As part of the festival experience, participating high school students will have the chance to tour the ISU campus and can enjoy a special performance of ISU’s production of "Sunday in the Park with George."
