Access Disparities for Deaf Patients

Deaf patients have long reported sub-par experiences with communication in health care encounters and diminished access to care due to discrimination. Research resulting from a partnership between the ISU Sign Language Interpreting Program, the Idaho Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and the ISU Department of Public Health has provided empirical support for the experiences reported by Deaf patients.
