SO YOU WANNA BE PART OF SAB?

 

 

SAB is a group of students who work together to plan campus events for Idaho State University students and for the local community. Positions available are the Bengal Pride, Entertainment, and Family Events Programmer as well as an SAB Director. All positions are paid a monthly stipend of $440.  SAB Director monthly stipend is $600.00

Applications are open for the 2024-2025 Board. 

Expectations for all Programmers and Director:

  • Must be a full-time student, carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours.
  • Must have and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA throughout the selection process and the length of commitment.
  • Must be able to complete minimal 8 office hours per week.
  • Must attend all SAB planning meetings.
  • Must attend all SAB events.
  • Must be able to commit to being a full-time member of the SAB for the entire school year, August 2024-May 2025.
  • Must also be available during the summer in Pocatello for training.

SAB Director Applicants will be expected during the interview to give a 10-minute presentation addressing the following:

  • What does student involvement mean to you?
  • Goals you envision for the upcoming school year with SAB.

The Director will act on behalf of the Student Activities Board as an ambassador to the ISU community. They are responsible for maintaining a good working relationship between SAB and other campus departments and organizations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Interview and appoint members of the board
  • If necessary, remove negligent Program Board Members
  • Chair weekly meetings
  • Meet 1:1 bi-weekly with each Programmer
  • Determine each Programmer’s pay based on office hours and participation of events
  • Work closely with the SAB Advisor
  • Enforce the SAB rulebook and any amended guidelines
  • Prepare training workshops for all Programmers
  • Collect and maintain records of all upcoming events, including event registration forms and any follow-up reports
  • Take minutes during SAB meetings and distribute to members weekly
  • Work closely with middle agents in booking performers 
  • Present all potential event ideas to the SAB during the weekly meeting to be voted upon 
  • Keep an accurate account of the SAB Director budget 
  • Complete the event registration form and follow-up report for every event 
  • SAB calendar in the SAB Office 
  • Implement successful SAB marketing campaigns 
  • Head all marketing campaigns during Week of Welcome, Homecoming, Spring Fest, and other big events 

 

The Entertainment Programmer is responsible for organizing a wide assortment of activities throughout the year for the sole purpose of student entertainment.  They are to assess the student population to determine which events are best suited for ISU students. In addition, the Programmer will also responsible for continuing specific traditional events as assigned by the Director.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a consistent monthly event, i.e. bingo night
  • Plan and carry out a minimum of one to two events per month
  • Keep an accurate account of the Entertainment budget
  • Complete the event registration form and follow-up report for each event
  • Attend weekly meetings
  • Attend a bi-weekly 1:1 with SAB Director
  • Help other chairs as needed
  • Maintain the SAB website, Twitter account, Google Calendars, and Facebook account, including frequent updates
  • Prepare press releases for SAB events
  • Prepare all creative graphic requests for posters and other printed materials

The Family Programmer is responsible for offering a wide assortment of activities throughout the year focused primarily on students with families.  Assessment of the student population will be made to determine which events are best suited for families. They are also responsible for continuing specific traditional events as assigned by the SAB Director.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute a minimum of one to two events per month
  • Keep an accurate account of the Family Programs budget
  • Complete the event registration form and follow-up report for all events
  • Attend weekly meetings with SAB
  • Attend a bi-weekly 1:1 with SAB Director
  • Help other chairs as needed
  • Maintain the SAB website, Twitter account, Google Calendars, and Facebook account, including frequent updates
  • Prepare press releases for SAB events
  • Prepare all creative graphic requests for posters and other printed materials

The Bengal Pride Programmer is responsible for promoting school spirit through event programming. They work closely with the Alumni Association, ISU Athletics, and other organizations to create a positive school image.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Cooridnate all SAB Bengal Wednesdays
  • Represent the SAB when working with the Alumni Association and ISU Athletics
  • Coordinate Homecoming Week activities
  • Coordinate Spring Fest activities
  • Maintain SAB Bengal Pride budget
  • Complete event registration forms and any follow-up reports for each event
  • Attend weekly SAB meetings
  • Attend a bi-weekly 1:1 with SAB Director
  • Help other chairs as needed
  • Maintain the SAB website, Twitter account, Google Calendars, and Facebook account, including frequent updates
  • Prepare press releases for SAB events
  • Prepare all creative graphic requests for posters and other printed materials

The Event Assistant is responsible for showing up to SAB events and help with set up, the event itself and take down.
