About Us
Vision
To build and maintain a compassionate workforce in Idaho with the capacity to effectively address prevention, harm reduction, and care for communicable diseases, especially in underserved communities.
Mission
To be Idaho’s leading transdisciplinary team (and, eventually, Center) engaged in building interprofessional partnerships and enhancing workforce development in the area of infectious diseases, through education, training opportunities and research.
Why train Idaho’s workforce on infectious disease prevention and response?
Between 2014-2019, cases of HIV and rates of sexually transmitted infections (syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea) in Idaho increased.

In 2021, Idaho State University (ISU) conferred 403 bachelor’s degrees in health-related professions out of 1,284 bachelor’s degrees. An opportunity, therefore, exists to build Idaho’s workforce capacity to better address prevention, harm reduction, and care, especially for underserved communities.
