Biographical Sketch:

I was born in 1950 in Bern, Switzerland and received my BA in Health Education from Montclair State University in 1972, my MA and Ph.D. in Human Performance Physiology in 1977 from the Ohio State University and, a Certificate in Physical Therapy from The Mayo Clinic Graduate School in 1990.  During my last year at Ohio State I was a clinical instructor in exercise science. I hold a dual appoints at the rank of Professor Emeritus in Physical Therapy and Physiology here at ISU.  I was  Department Chair in  Physical Therapy from 1990 -2009.  I teach in the areas of cardio-pulmonary management, biomechanics and orthopedics and have research interests in prosthetics, clinical physical therapy and therapeutic exercise.  I formally retired from the University in 2010, but continue to teach, conduct research, clinically practice, and serve on student committees. I am a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, a manuscript reviewer the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports  Physical Therapy and CardioPulmonary Physical Therapy Journals, and past president of the Northwest Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine.

Personal Interests/Hobbies:

Mountaineering, travel, nordic skiing, reading, and classic car restorations
