Ph.D. psychology student Hannah Lesnick received a 2024 Psi Chi Rocky Mountain Psychological Association (RMPA) Regional Research Award for her oral presentation based on her thesis, “Executive Functions and Alcohol Use in College Students: Are Protective Behavioral Strategies a Mediator?”
This award recognizes her outstanding research in psychology at the regional level. Additionally, she received a cash award of $400 and a travel award of $400 to present her findings at the RMPA conference in April, 2024. This recognition and support from Psi Chi and RMPA highlight the significance of her research and contribution to the field of psychology.
“These awards mean a lot to me and I am honored to be one of the recipients,” Lesnick says. “It feels amazing to have my research and hard work recognized, and I am excited to contribute to the field.”
Lesnick also says she is grateful to her advisors, Dr. Maria Wong and Dr. Kandi Turley-Ames, for their mentorship, advice, and the time they put into the research project as well. “They continue to help me grow as a researcher and I would not be where I am without them,” she says.
“I am beyond grateful for the experiences and opportunities ISU has given me. While at ISU, I gained a sense of community, friendships, and valuable skills I will continue to utilize and cherish well past my time at ISU.”
