We are thrilled to announce that Gabby Perez, a graduate of the ISU Clinical Psychology program, has accepted a forensic psychology postdoctoral fellowship at Patton State Hospital, her top choice.
Patton State Hospital is a psychiatric hospital located in San Bernardino, California, primarily dedicated to providing specialized mental health care and treatment to individuals with severe mental health disorders involved in the criminal justice system. It is one of several facilities in California focusing on the treatment of patients with mental illness in the context of the criminal justice system, with a commitment to enhancing recovery and reintegration into society while ensuring public safety.
“It means the world to me that I have the opportunity to work with such an underserved population, as many individuals involved in the legal system struggle with their mental health,” Perez says. “I am so thankful to the faculty and supervisors I've worked with during my time in the clinical psychology program and am proud to represent ISU in this next chapter!”
Gabby's graduate mentor, Professor Shannon Lynch, praises her exceptional work, stating, "We are so proud of Gabby. She has consistently demonstrated excellence in her clinical work and research. I have enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with Gabby as she completed her dissertation and to see her growth and accomplishments as a psychology student. I look forward to seeing Gabby utilize her training to improve access to evidence based mental health assessment and treatment, meeting critical healthcare needs in our communities."
Please join us in celebrating Gabby's outstanding achievements and wishing her the best as she embarks on this important new chapter in her career.
