Torsion Pendulum

The equipment needed for this demonstration include rods and clamps as pictured below. Also needed are a spring scale, another rod clamp and a protractor to measure the force required to rotate the pendulum through an angle. Also, to obtain the mass, a scale or balance is required but not pictured.

The pendulum is shown suspended here. Note that the pendulum is suspended quite close the the table top, with just enough space to attach a rod clamp. This facilitates measuring the angle mentioned above.
