The replica grating slides shown at right can be passed out to a large lecture class. Students can observe dispersion of white light from a bright lamp, or the characteristic grating interference pattern with a monochromatic light source. The Sargent Welch High Intensity Light Source or a bare incandescent bulb in a dark room work well for this.
