Weights on Strings

Two 1 kg weights are suspended on breakable string. The question is where will the string break: above or below the weight. If the string is pulled quickly, the string below the weight breaks; however, if pulled slowly the string above the weight breaks.

Notice the pad underneath the weights to protect the table top, also the weights are hung at approximately the same distance below the bar. The yellow breakable string is taken from the outreach equipment.
