Materials: Ball, String, Knife

A ball with a light string and a knife are needed for this demonstration. A low mass ball is preferable, such as the styrofoam ball pictured. For this demonstration you twirl the ball using the string above your head. A partner will proceed to cut the string while it is twirling to show that the ball will fly in a straight line instead of a curved one.
