Van de Graaff Generator

The Van de Graaff generator shown at right can produce between 30,000 and 40,000 V.  This can produce 3" to 8" sparks to a grounding sphere connected to the base of the Van de Graaff.  If continuous operation is planned, be sure to have a grounding sphere within 6" to avoid arcing through the plexiglass tube to the base.
