This demo is able to show that compasses follow the path of magnetic fields. If a magnet is near a compass then the compass will point towards the magnet. However, if you get a lot of mini compasses in a clump with a magnetic hovering near the middle you will be able to see the compasses point in the direction of magnetic lines.
