Eddy Current Pendula

Use the Pasco Variable-Gap Magnet and the accessory Eddy Current Pendula as shown at left to demonstrate eddy currents.  The solid aluminum pendulum and the aluminum pendulum with the large oval holes will be quickly damped when swung through the magnet, but the aluminum comb pendulum will not.  This can be used to give students an idea of the size and extent of the eddy currents.
