AC/DC Edison Bulb
PIRA: 5H40.00
Materials: Edison Bulb, AC/DC Bulb Base, Magnet
This demo is to show how current traveling through wires induces a magnetic field. This is done by sending either a Direct Current (DC) or Alternating Current (AC) through the bulb. Then to prove that sending current through a wire induces a small magnetic field use a 1 inch magnet and bring it close to the bulb while on DC. This will either repel or attract the filaments and you will be able to see them move. Then you can swap to AC and this will make the filament vibrate because the current is changing directions approximately 60 times a second.
