Bernoulli Tube
PIRA 2C20.10
The equipment needed for this experiment are: the Bernoulli tube apparatus, some food coloring and some water.
Notice the construction of the apparatus. The top tube has three positions with latex tubing attached. The cross-sectional area of the tube at the first and third positions are the same. The cross-sectional area at the center is much smaller. The latex tubing is connected to the lower tube. The lower tube is partially filled with colored water. The height of the water column in each part of the lower tube will indicate the pressure of the air stream in the corresponding location of the top tube. The top tube is held horizontally and air is blown through it. Notice the water level is higher in the third position than in the first. This effect is primarily as a result of air being a compressible fluid.
