Profile
Professor Janet Merrell holds the role of a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Idaho State University. Professor Merrell began her nursing career in 1995 and worked as an EMT and progressed through the ranks of nursing at every level of care. Professor Merrell’s passion is working direct patient care and educating others in a way that they can understand and manage their individualized healthcare. Professor Merrell has joined ISU higher education with the desire to teach nursing students to connect with and empower their patients at an individualized level by understanding evidence- based research and critical thinking in a simplified manner. Prof Merrell has specialized in Family Practice and Community/Public Health while working in areas such as emergency and urgent care, medical- surgical nursing, orthopedics, critical care, women's health/OB-BYN, pediatrics, occupational health and community health care. Merrell has worked as a Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner throughout the US from sea to shining sea (Washington Coast to Virginia Beach and Alaska to Arizona and everywhere in between) as well participating in multiple humanitarian aid trips to Bolivia and Peru. Growing up in Idaho, Professor Merrell’s desire was to return to Idaho to build the health care profession and give back to those who have supported her throughout her career.
