Naomi S. Velasquez receives Award for Creative Innovation


Naomi S. Velasquez, Associate Professor of Art at Idaho State University, was awarded the $500 Award for Creative Innovation, sponsored by The Lincoln Center’s ArtWear Fashion Week, for her art quilt, Bends. The quilt was selected by judges for excellence in innovative design and construction.

 

Her artworks, Bends and Trails, are currently on exhibit as part of the 36th Annual New Legacies: Contemporary Art Quilts exhibit in Fort Collins, Colorado. 28 artists are featured in this juried international exhibition. Jurors for this exhibition were: Charlotte Ziebarth, Louisa Smith, Vicki Carlson, and Ellen Martin. Judges for this exhibition were: Charlotte Ziebarth and Vicki Carlson.
