Lyn Redington named Idaho State University vice president for student affairs

POCATELLO -- Lyn Redington has been named Idaho State University’s vice president for student affairs.
Redington currently serves as assistant vice president and dean of students at The University of Iowa. Prior to her time at University of Iowa, Redington spent more than 20 years at University of Northern Iowa, primarily as director of residence life. During her time at the University of Northern Iowa, she also served as interim dean of students, associate director of residence life and an adjunct faculty member in the College of Education. She holds a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy studies, a Master of Science degree in professional studies in higher education and a bachelor’s degree in sociology, all from Iowa State University.
“Lyn brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Idaho State University,” said ISU President Arthur Vailas. “We are excited to have her join our community.”
Redington said she is planning to spend her first few months getting to know the student affairs team and listening to the needs of students.
Provost and Executive Vice President Laura Woodworth-Ney said she is proud to welcome Redington as part of ISU’s leadership team.
“Throughout her career, Lyn has shown a dedication to students and their academic and personal needs. She is clearly passionate about education, and will be a great asset to our institution,” Woodworth-Ney said.
Redington said ISU is a good fit for her, personally and professionally. Redington and her husband, Mike, have two college-aged daughters, Amme and Emma.
“From the first interactions I had with members of Idaho State University, I felt like I had come home,” she said. “ISU is an institution with excellent faculty, staff and students. I am very excited about being part of the Bengal family.”
Redington will begin her duties at ISU on July 1.
