Katherine Reedy Publishes Manuscript

January 12, 2018

Dr. Katherine Reedy's manuscript, "Aleut Ethnography in Transition," was recently published in Arctic Anthropology.

"Aleut Ethnography in Transition" honors the memory of Aleutian ethnographer Dorothy Jones, who passed away in 2015, and traces the decades-long impact of her approach on the Aleut villages and on the contemporary scholars working in these same communities. It chronicles the transition from ethnography as a study of a population to the current model of partnership using the Aleutian cases, and analyzes the historical contexts in which studies occur and our responsibilities to communities as social researchers.
