Elizabeth Cartwright and Adam Clegg Published in Medical Anthropology


Elizabeth Cartwright and Adam Clegg of the Department of Anthropology have a new publication in the top journal Medical Anthropology.  Clegg, who was a graduate student in Anthropology at the time worked as a research colleague on this project using the visual coding system the Noldus Observer XT.
Cartwright and Clegg explored how to create non-verbal behavioral variables and implement them whilst researching language acquisition and various communicative disorders. The authors would like to thank the College of Arts and Letters for their supported for acquisition of the software and special computer that was used in this innovative project.
 
Cartwright is co-editor of the issue, along with her colleague Jerome Crowder of the University of Texas Medical Branch.  The issue is entitled Crafting Synergies between Medical and Visual Anthropologies  and it includes authors from the US, Portugal, and Denmark.
