Pocatello, Idaho—Dinosaurs may be extinct but they will live again this summer at the Idaho Museum of Natural History (IMNH) at Idaho State University.
On May 13, the IMNH will open its newest exhibit “Be the Dinosaur” with all things dino! From 9 a.m. to noon the museum will host fun dinosaur activities, including face painting, dinosaur balloon animals, and temporary tattoos that range from $1-$3 per activity in addition to gallery admission. The museum will also have its tyrannosaur on hand for photo ops!
Travel back in time when dinosaurs roamed the earth and see the world they knew and “Be the Dinosaur.” Discover the science of dinosaurs and their ecosystems as you walk in their footsteps, hunt, eat, hide and survive and “Be the Dinosaur: Life in the Cretaceous” by using computer simulation, interactive and traditional exhibits.
“Be the Dinosaur” uses state-of-the-art video game technology to allow visitors to BE a dinosaur.
“’Be the Dinosaur’ has the two things kids love: video games and dinosaurs,” said Leif Tapanila, IMNH director.
Applying lessons learned about different dinosaur species, their habitats, predators, and in some cases, prey, visitors will embark on a quest for survival, seeking food, water, shelter and safety. Other activities include examining real fossils in the field station, climbing aboard the dinosaur safari Jeep, and using dinosaur models to role-play on a 3-D Cretaceous landscape.
The exhibit will be at the IMNH until September 6, 2017.
IMNH is open six days a week, closed Mondays. IMNH is located at 698 E Dillon Street in Pocatello, and complimentary parking is provided for patrons in the General Parking Lot 01. For more information please call (208) 282-3168 or visit www.imnh.isu.edu.
