POCATELLO – Idaho State University’s Callie Nielsen was named the Career Path Intern (CPI) for the month of April by the ISU Career Center.
Nielsen, a graduate student in the Masters of Public Administration program, is currently working as a CPI for the Southeast Idaho Council of Governments. Her current internship position includes coordinating the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS) Summit that will take place this July in Pocatello. Attendees of the summit will include representatives from a seven-county region including business owners, ISU faculty, and city and county officials. The summit will focus on a variety of economic development topics including how to keep local youth in the area.
"Callie's dedication and good work should be recognized," said Mark McBeth, political science professor and Nielsen’s supervisor. "She is an exceptional intern that is getting experience to prepare her for a career in public administration."
In addition to coordinating the CEDS Summit, Nielsen also assists with grant administration for the Southeast Idaho Council of Governments (SICG). Upon graduating, she hopes to continue working with the SICG or at a similar organization.
"I am very passionate about what I do and am grateful for the opportunity to get this experience while still in school," Nielsen said.
