POCATELLO—The Idaho State University annual Graduate Art Exhibition will open on August 30 in the John B. Davis Gallery, and close on Sept. 16.
“The graduate exhibition is important because it provides our community with the opportunity to reflect on the spaces in which we inhabit,” said graduate student Rachael Mayer. “Art can force us to ask difficult questions and reevaluate our stances. This exhibition showcases a wide variety of work that speaks with many different voices.”
The opening reception will be held on August 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the gallery. The artists will talk about their pieces on Sept. 14 at 5 p.m., also in the gallery.
This year six graduate students will display their work; Mayer, fiber arts; Kyler Michaelson, procedural designs on Duratrans Film; Dustin Thompson, ceramics; Rebecca Merkley, mixed media and sculpture; Tirazheh Eslami, painting and drawing; and Sammi Gravis, painting.
The Davis Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is located on the lower level of the Fine Arts Building.
