Black Rock & Sage launch party May 5
April 26, 2016
POCATELLO – Idaho State University’s Black Rock & Sage will host a launch party on May 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the Bengal Café.
Black Rock & Sage is a journal of creative works published annually through the Department of English and Philosophy at ISU with assistance from the Art and Music Departments. All artistic contributions, from design to literature to music, have been produced by graduate and undergraduate students in departments from across the university.
This event is a great opportunity for people to come and listen to young writers who are very early in their careers but already show a great deal of promise and talent.
“This is the reason the magazine exists and we are so excited to see the artistic gifts that our contributors possess,” said Jeffrey Howard, editor-in- chief of the Black Rock & Sage magazine.
The event will have a "rapid-fire reading," so writers who have contributed to Black Rock & Sage magazine will each have two to four minutes to read pieces of their work. There will be an easels set up, so visual artists can display their work and some of the musicians who have contributed to the Black Rock & Sage CD will be perform as well.
“Some of our editors will be reading their work too. We will be selling copies of the brand-new issue of Black Rock & Sage, as well as Black Rock & Sage T-shirts complete with an image of our unofficial club mascot, Sasquatch,” Howard said.
The event is free to the public and there will be snacks and light refreshments.
