ISU Japan Club to host taiko drumming demonstration and lecture by Kenny Endo Oct. 21 from 7:30-9 p.m.

POCATELLO- Idaho State University’s Japan Club will host a taiko Japanese drumming demonstration and lecture by renowned taiko performer, Kenny Endo, on Oct. 21 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at ISU’s Frazier Hall Auditorium.
Tickets are $10 per person.
Kenny Endo has toured and performed for more than 40 years and is considered to be a pioneer in this Japanese style of drumming.
Endo performs with an ensemble specializing in contemporary Japanese music with jazz sensibility on taiko, flute, vibes, shamisen and koto.
He has received numerous awards and accolades, including special recognition in Japan as the first non-national to be awarded with the prestigious honor of a natori, or stage name, in Japanese classical drumming.
Endo has also been honored by the National Endowment for the Arts for American Masterpieces.
Endo was featured on a 2005 PBS special “Spirit of Taiko” as well as several soundtracks, including “Picture Bride” and “Apocalypse Now.”
