Upgrade to Windows 11 Now

March 20, 2025

Microsoft will no longer support Windows 10 after October 14, 2025.  PCs not upgraded to Windows 11 by this deadline will not be allowed to connect to any ISU secure system protected by Duo.

If you have an ISU owned PC that is not currently running Windows 11, you should upgrade as soon as possible–certainly before the end of spring semester. It is especially important for faculty to upgrade their PCs before they leave for the summer. Given the large impact of this required upgrade, the ITS Service Desk anticipates many requests for assistance next fall when the October upgrade deadline is looming.

When you attempt to upgrade, you may discover that your computer is too old to make this transition. In that case, you may need a newer computer. ITS has negotiated special vendor pricing for those who need to purchase replacement computers, but you will need to go through your department to make those arrangements. This is another good reason to upgrade your computer now.

We hope that you will help us get this information to all the faculty and staff in your areas. We have step-by-step instructions on how to do this upgrade, which takes 30-60 minutes for most people. If  you run into any problems, you can contact the ITS Service Desk at 208-282-4357 (help) or by email at  help@isu.edu
