Google Fiber Visits ISU College of Technology to Explore Student Support Initiatives
March 17, 2025
The Idaho State University College of Technology recently welcomed representatives from Google Fiber for an in-depth look at the programs and services dedicated to student success. Chubbuck Mayor Kevin England also joined the visit, reinforcing the strong collaboration between education, industry, and local leadership.
During their visit, Google Fiber representatives toured the College & Career Readiness, START, Center for New Directions, and Tutoring, Academic Support and Peer Mentoring (TAP) Center programs. These initiatives provide critical resources and guidance to students, helping them develop skills and explore pathways to meaningful careers.
Google Fiber has been a strong advocate for the College of Technology’s mission and played a key role in supporting the Center for New Directions STEMx, an annual career exploration event for 8th-grade students. Through their generous donation last fall, Google Fiber helped provide young learners with hands-on learning experiences led by ISU College of Technology instructors. STEMx allows students to explore different STEM fields and education pathways that lead to those exciting career opportunities.
"At GFiber, we believe that access to education and hands-on learning opportunities are key to building a stronger, more connected future,” said Alberto Garcia, Government and Community Affairs Manager with Google Fiber.” We’re proud to support initiatives like STEMx that help students explore STEM careers.”
Google Fiber’s visit underscores the importance of industry collaboration in preparing students for the future. By working together, ISU College of Technology and Google Fiber aim to bridge education and industry, ensuring students have access to the resources and experiences they need to succeed.
