Employee Engagement Survey Update

February 13, 2025

Idaho State University has been collecting data, and taking steps to improve employee engagement since our first Employee Engagement Survey in 2018 led by the Office of the President. Feedback received from the original 2018 survey led to the development of the Employee Engagement Task Force, which has worked diligently to collect your feedback, report the results to the campus community and stakeholder groups, and provide data to leadership to support programs and initiatives to improve employee engagement. Additional surveys were conducted in 2020 and 2022.

In the Fall of 2024, the Employee Engagement Task Force met to review our survey questionnaire and evaluate our approach to seeking this important information from our employees. Before moving forward with another round of this survey, we want to make sure that we are asking the right questions, that our efforts are also in alignment with the State of Idaho Division of Human Resources (DHR) engagement survey, and that we have a solid plan to take the feedback we have received and put it into action to improve the campus experience for everyone. To that end, and in collaboration with the President’s Office, we did not launch the survey in 2024 but are reimagining the survey for a Fall 2025 launch. It is our goal to ensure that the survey is evolving to remain relevant to the needs of our campus community while also maintaining longitudinal trends and data collected through our past survey efforts.

The Employee Engagement Task Force will pilot the updated survey this spring with a focus group to collect information on the survey design and the questions to make any needed adjustments before a university-wide launch next fall. Thank you for your patience as we take this important step to evolve Employee Engagement into a robust university program.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Stacey Gibson, AVP for Institutional Engagement & Director of Equal Opportunity and Title IX, who is responsible for this initiative on behalf of the President’s Office. The Employee Engagement Task Force members include representatives from Faculty Senate, Staff Council, ASISU, Academic Affairs, Institutional Research, Marketing and Communications, and Human Resources.
