Emergency Training Set February 14-17 in Meridian
February 10, 2025
Over President’s Day Weekend, Ada County Emergency Management and Community Resilience, in partnership with multiple first responder agencies in Ada County, is producing a series of training videos at Idaho State University's Meridian campus and the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine that address the unified response to active threat scenes.
February 14-17, ISU Meridian and ICOM will allow area responders to use their campuses and surrounding areas to record the action sequences for the videos, which will include the staging of vehicles and personnel, as well as depictions of different response actions and responder movements. A significant amount of signage will be displayed across campus to indicate that a training is in progress.
Students, staff, and visitors who are on campus over those days will likely note the presence of area responders in the building and surrounding campus footprint. It is the intent of the responders and their filming crew to be as minimally disruptive to the ISU and ICOM as possible during the video production process.
ISU in Meridian is home to the Emergency Services Department (ESD) and offers courses in Paramedic Science, Fire Science, and Homeland Security/Emergency Management. The ESD has many community partners including Ada County Paramedics. Through that partnership ISU is pleased to connect with and support Ada County Emergency Management (ACEM) by offering the use of the Meridian Campus for filming and creating training videos. This collaboration provides an opportunity to enhance the on-going partnership and collaborations between ISU, Ada County Paramedics, and ACEM and will assist in providing realistic training to first responders.
