For the month of March, the Chubbuck Bengal Pharmacy received a community beautification award from the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce for brightening the new building they now occupy. This award is given monthly by the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce to businesses who actively improve the appearance of the building they are in. ISU’s goal in adding the Chubbuck location was to enhance accessibility and serve as a model for the future of community pharmacy.

“We had been searching for a location that would improve accessibility beyond our existing site at University Health,” said Rikki Trussel, Bengal Pharmacy manager.  “After exploring several options, we found that this building - already equipped with a drive-thru and located in a growing area - was the perfect fit.”

After securing an investor to purchase the property renovations began, including adding clinic rooms, offices, and an open-concept pharmacy area. The Chubbuck location also offers handmade products from Goodbye Hello, a local business owned by an ISU alumni, reflecting a commitment to support local entrepreneurs and the university community.

With this expansion, Bengal Pharmacy strives to set a new standard for sustainable community pharmacy. The location offers traditional pharmacy services while also supporting remote sites through telepharmacy. Looking ahead, plans are underway to launch a pharmacist-run clinic in 2025, offering point-of-care testing, weight management, medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorder (Suboxone), medication therapy management, travel medicines, birth control, and treatment for minor ailments.

“Our vision is to integrate accessible health care with cutting-edge pharmacy services to better serve our communities,” said Tom Wadsworth, dean for the College of Pharmacy at ISU. “We are honored to receive this award from our community partners and strive to continue to brighten the area we occupy in our community.”
