Submissions Open for "On Common Ground: Diversity Monologues"

January 16, 2024

The Office of Equity and Inclusion invites students to submit their work for possible inclusion in the Spring '24 issue of Diversity Monologues and/or to present their work at the On Common Ground event, which will be held on Friday, April 26, at 3 p.m. in the AB&C Suites, Rendezvous Complex.

OEI asks that faculty and staff share this opportunity with students, who should address the following prompt:
Brené Brown describes "true belonging" as "the spiritual practice of believing in and belonging to yourself so deeply that you can share your most authentic self with the world and find sacredness in both being a part of something and standing alone in the wilderness. True belonging doesn't require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are" (Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone). Based on influences from your family, friends, cultural upbringing, media, education, social class, and overall life experiences, how do you come to know a sense of belonging at Idaho State University? What factors or experiences tell you that you belong, and what do you do to cultivate your own sense of belonging?
For more information about how they can get involved, encourage students to visit the On Common Ground Submissions Portal. Submission deadline: Friday, April 12.
