ISU Professors Dr. Patrick Young and Mark Neiwirth Release Award-Winning Album "Counting Rests"

In May 2024, ISU music professors Dr. Patrick Young and Mark Neiwirth released their solo tuba and piano album, "Counting Rests," which has just received two silver medals from the Global Music Awards under categories: instrumental performance and creativity/originality.

Dr. Young, who serves as ISU's Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Low Brass, also
serves as the principal tubist for Opera Colorado. Dr. Young's album project included transcribed and arranged operatic solos, most originally composed for voice, to be performed on tuba and piano. For this project Dr. Young was a recipient of two ISU grants, one creative grant from the College of Arts and Letters and another from the Office of Research.

Each year, the Global Music Awards receive hundreds of entries from around the world, recognizing only the most exceptional music that stands out internationally across cultures. The Global Music Awards are widely
