ISU History Students Present Research at Conference

Four ISU History students traveled to Spokane, WA to present their original historical research at the Phi Alpha Theta 2024 Northwest Regional Conference on April 12 and 13.

Ethan Swenson, Melody Irish, and Emily Stacey had the opportunity to speak about their research and answer questions from professors and students coming from universities across Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. 

The four papers delivered by ISU History students at the 2024 Northwest Regional conference were: Ethan Swenson, graduate student, "Fostering Imagined Community in Transylvania: Archbishop Andrei Șaguna and the Romanian Imagined Community from 1848-1873" Melody Irish, undergraduate student, "Government Scare Tactics: Shelter Propaganda for Families in the Atomic Age" Emily Stacey, undergraduate student, "Early American Hymns: Changes in Colonial Worship"

Phi Alpha Theta is a national academic honors society to promote the study of history. The Phi Alpha Theta chapter at Idaho State University was founded in 1976.
