ISU Faculty Member Provides Keynote at the during the Northwest Athletic Trainers' Association Conference
Recently, Shad Robinson, Clinical Instructor and Lab Coordinator for the Department of Human Performance and Sport Studies, was a Keynote Speaker during the Northwest Athletic Trainers' Association District 10 Annual Conference held in Boise, April 4-7.
Over 400 athletic trainers were in attendance from the D10 states including Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.
Robinson's lecture titled, "Health and Performance Considerations for Lower Limb Amputees", addressed the growing population of individuals with congenital limb deficiencies and lower limb amputations who lead active lifestyles and participate in sports. His presentation provided basic knowledge on prosthetics as well as health, performance, and diversity considerations for athletic trainers who work with lower limb amputees in order to improve outcomes and representation of this unique population.
Robinson provided the keynote for the Naseby Rhinehart DEIA Lecture. Naseby was the first Black Head Athletic Trainer at a Division I University, practicing at the University of Montana. The lecture was created to provide athletic trainers with a talk specifically on topics related to DEIA.
