ISU College of Technology Students Excel at State Regional Competition

Members of the Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter from Idaho State University's College of Technology showcased their talents at the state regional competition in Boise this Monday.

BPA is a student organization dedicated to preparing its members for successful careers in business and information technology fields. Through a variety of competitions, leadership development programs, and networking opportunities, BPA equips students across the United States with essential skills for the business world, emphasizing communication, teamwork, and professional growth.

Casey Andersen, Jessica First, and Shelly Honena showcased exceptional talent and dedication as they represented their institution at the regional competition. These students competed in preselected events aligned with their career aspirations and academic pursuits. All students took home awards from their respective competitions.

While highlighting the success of ISU College of Technology students, chapter coordinator and Business Technology Clinical Instructor Lindsay Allen, commented on the impact a club like this has on student success.

“It helps prepare them for these industry jobs; it has a lot of real-world application in the competitions they do,” said Allen. “Businesses and companies like to hire students with a BPA background. It sets up opportunities for networking that can help students in future careers.”

Allen is looking forward to what the future holds for this club and her members. The students are now preparing for the BPA National Leadership Conference which will be held May 10-14, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois.
