Idaho Retired Educators Donate Over $4,000 for Students Scholarships

February 20, 2024

The Southeast Idaho Retired Educators Association (SEIREA) donated $4,160 for student scholarships to Idaho State University College of Education in February 2024.

This will allow the College to award five $800 scholarships for students completing their student teaching. Composed of retired Idaho educators, SEIREA is dedicated to actively participating in and seeking opportunities to aid those in need within our community, particularly educators. This recent gift is one of many that SEIREA has graciously given to the College of Education. In total, SEIREA has donated more than $30,000 to the College of Education to support future educators in Idaho throughout the years.

SEIREA President and retired teacher, Francie Stephens, presented a check to College of Education Dean, Jean McGivney-Burelle and College of Education Philanthropic Advisor, Tabatha Butler, at their monthly SEIREA meeting.

“We are extremely proud and happy to continue to contribute to this annual scholarship for College of Education students,” said Stephens.

In accepting the gift, Dean McGivney-Burelle said, “SEIREA members have been and continue to be among the College of Education’s greatest advocates and most generous supporters. We are sincerely grateful to SEIREA for this latest gift which will provide much needed scholarship support to students who want to pursue a career in teaching.”
